Wednesday, September 17, 2008

On 9/11/08, the Delaware Volunteer Firemen's Association (DVFA) inducted the BBVFC's Hal Barber into its Hall of Fame, a unique recognition by his peers of Hal's many contributions to the volunteer fire service. Hal, a Maryland native, joined the BBVFC in 1973. In his 35 years, he has held many offices, including president from 1978-1992 and 1993-1996 and served on many committees. A retired U.S. Navy senior chief petty officer, Hal has also been a driving force for volunteers at the state and county levels. He is Sussex County Director for the DVFS, a past president of the Sussex County Volunteer Firemen’s Association and the DVFA's 2007 Firefighter of the Year. Service to the community is a family affair in the Barber household as his wife, Dottie, is a life member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Congratulations from all your friends in the Company who respect and value what you do for us.
