They're Here! - Community Gathers to Welcome Ambulances

Thursday, October 2, 2008

The Company's two new Horton ambulances, A70 and B70, arrived in Bethany Beach yesterday at noon. Built in Ohio, they will now be fitted out with communications, medical and other equipment prior to inspection and certification by the State Fire Prevention Commission. The units cost $138,000 each and Horton's local dealer was the low bidder of three companies that submitted proposals. Representatives from the ambulance service's sponsors, the community and the company gathered to celebrate this milestone. The ambulances will go in service on January 1, 2009. Pictured here (l. to r.) are BBVFC President Monte Wisbrock, South Bethany Town Manager Melvin Cusick, Sea Colony Board member John Gilbert, South Bethany Mayor Gary Jayne, Bethany Beach Mayor Tony McClenny, Fenwick Island Vice Mayor Todd Smallwood, Fire Chief Brian Martin and EMS Supervisor John FIsher. Senator George Bunting also attended. The BBVFC thanks the Towns of Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island and South Bethany and the Sea Colony Recreation Association for their support in this critical community effort.
