Busy start to the new year for BBVFC - Ocean City and Bethany Beach

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day where steady with activity for the BBVFC. During the evening of 12/31/13 Tower 70, Quint 70-4 and 70-8 with Chief Martin responded to assist Ocean City on a working structure fire on Pine Tree Drive. Tower 70 performed truck company functions and all units returned to headquarters by 2315. On New Year’s morning B-70, Gator 70 and 70-8 provided EMS coverage for both the “Hair of the Dog 5K & 10K then the polar bear plunge into the ocean at Garfield Parkway. There were no medical issues and everyone enjoyed these fun events to celebrate the New Year in Bethany Beach. Later that afternoon Quint 705, Rescue 70, Tower 70, A-70 and 70-8 with Chief Martin responded to a reported gas leak on Pins Shore drive in Sea Colony. The unit was assessed and monitored with no leak found with all units being placed in service by Chief Martin. The Officers and Members wish all of our family and friends a Happy and Safe New Year!
