Bethany Beach, Millville and Roxana Volunteer Fire Companies, Fenwick Island Police and Delaware State Police and several 100 other volunteers searched for a missing man in Fenwick Island on Tuesday. According to Delaware State Police Sgt. Walter Newton, Forte was last seen leaving a Fenwick Island condominium on South Carolina Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. When he failed to return home, his friends grew concerned. It is with deep regret that the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire company announces the passing of 25 year member Mervyn "Doc" Carey. Doc was best known as being the "chauffer" for Ladder 70, a 95 foot Sutphen. His relationship with Past Chief Willis Matthews was notorius as well as his contributions to the discussions at the "Round Table" at the station on a daily basis. Doc's wonderful power of example, strong opinions and delightful sense of humor will be sorely missed within the company and Town.

The Bethany Beach, Roxana and Selbyville Volunteer Fire Companies have each received delivery of two RAD57 Carbon Monoxide Oximeters. These new tools are the most aggressive pre-hospital diagnostic tools on the market which allow Fire and EMS Responders to identify Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in both the medical patients as well as firefighters operating on fire scenes. This combined effort, group purchase and cooperation by these three Companies made it possible to save $750.00 per device.
