An already busy day for the Lower East Side continued with a two car motor vehicle accident on the canal bridge in front of Lake Bethany along Garfield Parkway. Two people suffered minor injuries from the collision and refused transport to local hospitals. Firefighters not assisting with patient care cleared the roadway of fluids and debris prior to going back in service. Fire Police directed traffic around the accident until wreckers could remove the disabled vehicles from the roadway. Assistant Chief Brian McConlogue had the command.
