Assist Delmarva Power - Coastal Highway
Monday, October 5, 2015
Did you notice once again all the fire apparatus and Delmarva Power along Coastal Highway today? This never-ending Nor’easter won’t let up and is again contaminating the electrical pole insulators with a build-up of salt along Coastal Highway. In an effort to keep any interruption in your electric service, the insulators are being flushed again today by your community volunteer fire firefighters. Chief Brian Martin of your Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company enlisted the assistance of neighboring volunteer fire companies to help rinse the insulators. The monitor pipe located on the top of the pumpers is capable of providing a high-pressure and volume of water to accomplish such a task. Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company pumper, 70-3, was manned by, FF/EMT Brice Hickman, Cortney Koschoff, Brent Scott and Jonathan Halt. Chief Andy Johnson, Asst. Chief Troy Hall Sr., FF/EMT Jamie Killen and FF Troy Hall Jr from Roxanna Volunteer Fire Company provided a pumper, 90-4 and their 8000 gallon articulated tank truck, 90-6. Frankford Volunteer Fire Company assisted with a pumper, 76-2, manned by, Engineer Barry Mitchell. Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company’s pumper, 83-2 was manned by, Rescue Captain Tyler Timmons, Lt. Matt Skidmore and FF Alex Myers. Indian River Volunteer Fire Company also traveled the distance to help today with their pumper, 80-5, manned by Deputy Chief Steven Deery. Primary traffic control was under command of Captain Bill Bowden Sr, Traffic Control 70.
