House Fire Fenwick Island - 38849 Bunting Ave.
Sunday, March 18, 2007
At 2030hrs on 3/18/07, Bethany Beach (70), Roxana (90), Ocean City (700), Millville (84)RIT and Sussex County EMS were alerted to a reported structure fire at 38849 Bunting Ave. in Fenwick Island. Duty Officer/Asst. Chief Brian McConlogue and “South End Battalion” (Fenwick Island Station 2) engines E701 & E702 were on the scene within 2 minutes of the initial dispatch reporting a 3 story residential home with heavy smoke showing. Crews from both engines went to work and encountered intense heat and heavy fire conditions on the 2nd and 3rd floors. With the engine crews from E701 and E702 making aggressive interior attacks, Q704 and Tower 5 (OC) executing roof and exterior ventilation and Engine 905 (Roxana) performing primary searching, further extension was prevented. Due to the heavy fire volume and extensive overhaul required, all units were held an extended period of time. Assistant Chief McConlogue had the command. Special thanks to OC L109 Jerscheid, who assisted the engine crews on initial attack lines.
