Vehicle Accident with Extrication - Coastal Highway

At 0300hrs on 3-20-2007 the Bethany Beach Volunteers along with Ambulance 84 and Sussex County EMS were alerted to a motor vehicle accident on the east side of the Coastal Highway just south of Wellington St. in Bethany Beach.  The vehicle's operator had driven into a deep ditch along the highway, trapping himself and causing a variety of lacerations and other injuries.  Chief Moore directed the crew of Rescue 70 to remove the Ford Explorer's driver's door to allow for extrication.  The driver was stabilized by Sussex County EMS and transported by Ambulace 84 to the hospital.  Engine 70-2, BBVFC fire police and the Bethany Beach Police Department assisted.
