Extrication Along Kent Ave. - Bethany Beach

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Shortly before 9PM, Units were dispatched to an MVC with reported roll over along Kent Avenue. First arriving units found one car into the bushes that had rolled several times. Capt. R. Parrett Jr. confirmed one entrapped in the vehicle and was given the Extrication Ops by Command. The crew from Rescue 70 went to work stabilizing the vehicle, which was difficult due to the thickness and height of the bushes the car was embedded in. It was determined a roof removal would be required to free the victim from the car. Extrication was performed by the crews of Rescue 70 and Quint 70. Despite the location of the vehicle the victim was extricated from the vehicle in just over 15 minutes. EMS from Millville and SCEMS took over his care and moved him to the LZ where he was flown to Christiana Hospital by Delaware Trooper 2. Units remained on scene for clean up and assitance with investigation prior to clearing. Chief Tom Moore had the Command.
