It is with deep regret that the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire company announces the passing of 25 year member Mervyn "Doc" Carey. Doc was best known as being the "chauffer" for Ladder 70, a 95 foot Sutphen. His relationship with Past Chief Willis Matthews was notorius as well as his contributions to the discussions at the "Round Table" at the station on a daily basis. Doc's wonderful power of example, strong opinions and delightful sense of humor will be sorely missed within the company and Town.
