Severe Thunderstorms Cause a Busy Night for BBVFC - Bethany Beach, Millville, Roxanna
Saturday, August 25, 2012
Over 8 inches of rain and tremendous lightening caused a long busy night for the BBVFC. After responding to a lighting strike with Station 84 and handling multiple calls for service and EMS incidents, we had already had a busy Saturday night. Then at 2300 hours BBVFC was dispatched to assist station 90 with a large house fire on Johnson Rd. 70-8, Quint 70-4, Tower 70, and Engine 70-3 responded and assisted until 0345 hours. Pictures from Quint 70-4 are shown with this story .
While the units where assisting Roxanna, a working structure fire was dispatched on South Shore drive on the Indian River Inlet. Quint 70-5 assisted by units from Stations 86,83,84,90,77 and 82 attacked and suppressed this fire with Deputy 86 as Incident Commander. We thank our mutual aide for there assistance with this and multiple other smaller incidents and EMS responses.
Upon returning to headquarters many members found there vehicles surrounded with water as Hollywood street had flooded and water had entered the east building floors. Two members personal vehicles suffered water damage as well. Due to members exhaustion and clean up efforts from the storm, the annual members picnic had to me canceled on Sunday. But as is our priority all returned home safe from this busy night of service to the community.
