BBVFC responds to multiple calls during Nor'easter - Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island, Ocean City MD

At 1704 on 10/10/13 Station 70 was dispatched to 12805 Assawoman Drive in Ocean City to assist Station 700 with a working structure fire. Tower 70, Quint 70-5 and 70-8 with Chief Brian Martin responded. Tower 70 set up on side C and Quint 70-5 level 1 staged. OCFD quickly brought the incident under control and Station 70 units where released at 1739. Just as units arrived back in quarters at 1755 Sussex EOC dispatched station 70 to an automatic fire alarm at 40107 East Oceanside Drive in Fenwick Island. Units from the Ocean City Response and B-70 responded and gained entry to the structure using the Knox Box system. A faulty smoke detector was found on the first floor and units where placed available by command. The Nor’easter we are experiencing today has resulted in 3 other automatic fire alarms, a wires call as well as one EMS call today. BBVFC is prepared for additional calls as the storm continues along the east coast.
