The Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company offers a live-in rent-free program. It is not easy to find affordable housing in and around the coastal town of Bethany Beach. Now, you can live rent-free and have your own private room. This program is for trained firefighters who meet certain requirements. The applicant needs to provide evidence of Basic Firefighting Skills (or equivalent out of state training), Structural, Hazmat and Vehicle Rescue training from an approved fire rescue training facility. The applicant and the Chief will review your eligibility during your interview. Participants are required to serve 36 hours a week of in station duty crew service. You must also keep your live-in areas clean and ready for inspections at any time. These areas included a laundry room, kitchen and bathroom. While in quarters but not on duty residents are expected to answer alarms and participate in monthly training drills along with our other members. This unique opportunity is perfect for qualified individuals who are working in the area of Bethany Beach. Work your normal schedule, live rent-free at the firehouse and ride the fire apparatus when you can … the perfect way to serve our community.
