Lighting Strikes a Townhouse - Bethany Meadows - Millville

On July 28th Around 1800hrs as Bethany units were clearing a water rescue in the Rehoboth area and a Tree fire in the 1st due. Sussex Emergency Operations Center Dispatched stations 84, 70 and 90 (R.I.T.) for a building fire in Bethany Meadows. 708, 848 along Quint 70 arrived to find a 3 story multifamily town home with nothing showing. The Quint crew investigated and found light smoke in the middle unit.As additional 84 and 70 apparatus arrived they were directed to checked the adjacent units. After a thorough search of the building it was determined that the structure was struck by lighting and that the exhaust duct on the dryer in the middle had caught fire. Crews from Truck 84 removed the dry to ensure that fire had not extended to the walls or floor. Command had the crew from tower 70 ascend the roof and check for damage.
